Asia 2000 Seminars Focus On Business Opportunities In Taiwan
Opportunities for expansion of trade, economic and cultural relationships with Taiwan are unlimited, according to the Asia 2000 Foundation.
These opportunities are the focus of Asia 2000's next national business seminar series on "Sharing the Common Wealth: Business opportunities in Taiwan". The series will be held in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland and Hamilton from 16 - 19 September.
The seminars, sponsored by HSBC, will feature two notable speakers and will focus on Taiwan's growing status as a dynamic market for New Zealand traders and the benefits to be gained from trading with Taiwan.
"Taiwan is our eighth largest export markets for goods and one of our largest markets for tourism and education services," said Sarah McLauchlan, Asia 2000's business manager. "These seminars are an excellent opportunity for New Zealand exporters to get an overview of the market."
The seminars will also cover the opportunities for New Zealand products and services, the changing regulatory environment since Taiwan's accession into the World Trade Organisation and the potential to access China through partnerships with established Taiwanese companies.
The seminar speakers are Diane Ying and John Pickles.
Ms Ying is author, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Commonwealth magazine Group and founder of the Common Wealth Magazine, Taiwan's most influential political-economic magazine, in 1984. In 1995 the former Hong Kong-based magazine Asiaweek elected her one of Asia's most influential women.
John Pickles is an independent, Taipei-based British businessman with 20 years' experience in Asian business. His main interest is in Asian markets and, as president of Asian Pacific Research Ltd. (APR), he has developed a regional market consultancy with offices in Taipei, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Beijing and Tokyo.
He is also a partner in the Taiwanese company Savant Chen Public Relations, a founding partner of the Bectech Group, a Taiwanese engineering company, director on the European Chamber of Commerce in Taipei and is the Taiwan national representative to the European Society for Opinion and Market Research.
