Radio New Zealand Refutes PSA Claims Over “Staff Cuts”
Radio New Zealand Chief Executive, Sharon Crosbie, has refuted claims by the Public Service Association that the company
is to cut two staff positions in its newsroom and that it has not complied with consultative provisions in the
Collective Agreement.
Responding to PSA suggestions contained in a media release issued today, Ms Crosbie said:
“ No Radio New Zealand staff have lost their jobs and no staff will lose their jobs as a result of this year’s budget
round. On the contrary, the company and it’s newsroom is currently employing more staff than at any time in the past two
years.
Radio New Zealand makes financial performance and budget information available to staff, and employees have been
up-dated regularly for the past three months on progress with budget planning.
“ The budgeting process used this year is no different to that used by Radio New Zealand in previous years.
We have met with PSA and newsroom delegates to discuss the process. Radio New Zealand is prepared to discuss its
position more fully with the PSA and hopes outstanding issues can be resolved quickly.”
