Lesley Pope New MessageMedia CEO
Lesley Pope has been appointed chief executive of New Zealand Post's e-mail marketing company MessageMedia NZ Limited.
John Allen, Chief Executive of New Zealand Post's Letters and Enterprises Business Group, said Lesley had extensive marketing experience at a senior management level in leading organisations with large customer bases and high technology demands.
"Lesley brings a strong understanding of how New Zealand businesses sell and market to their customers. As a marketer, she is acutely aware of the need to provide email marketing solutions that can be managed by business owners and marketers, rather than technical specialists."
Prior to joining MessageMedia, Lesley was General Manager Marketing of Industry New Zealand. She has held senior marketing positions at WestpacTrust, Trust Bank, Tower Life, The Rural Bank, Letraset UK, Wilkinson Sword and Bryant and May.
Lesley is a past vice president of the NZ Association of Advertisers and a past member of the Advertising Standards Complaints Board.
Mr Allen said MessageMedia was a strong performer and led the on-line marketing communication industry in New Zealand.
"There is a growing awareness among New Zealand businesses of the role of email in achieving their marketing objectives. It is cost effective, easy to personalise and is now a central element of sophisticated direct marketing campaigns.
"New Zealand Post intends to grow MessageMedia and utilise its capability in our wider service offerings to customers, providing a comprehensive suite of options that cover both physical and electronic delivery channels.
"By providing services that complement our traditional goods, payments and messaging services, we not only remain relevant to our customers' needs, we open up new revenue streams as well."
New Zealand Post purchased the remaining 80 per cent of MessageMedia NZ Ltd from eVentures NZ Ltd in August 2001, taking its shareholding to 100 per cent.
