Organic Weed Killer Set To Be Distributed To Asian Market
Statement made by Dr Earl Stevens, Managing Director,
Certified Organics Limited
Certified Organics has completed a legally binding memorandum of understanding with Singapore based distributor Pacific Agriscience Pte Ltd for the marketing and distribution of Organic Interceptor to India and key Asian markets.
The countries covered by the agreement are Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, India, Korea, China, Thailand and the Philippines. Japan is not included at this stage as Certified Organics is currently working with two very large Japanese companies who are evaluating Organic Interceptor™ for Japan and other markets they operate in.
The regulatory consents, scientific trials and organic certification we have received in New Zealand and Australia, backed by the efficacy trials we have undertaken in both countries, opens the way for Organic Interceptor to be sold immediately in several of these markets.
This agreement will move us forward significantly in terms of commercialising our unique invention based on pine extracts. Asia is an important market for us but we need local knowledge and expertise to market there successfully. Local partners with the knowledge, expertise, distribution and financial muscle are a must.
Pacific Agriscience is registered in Singapore and has extensive experience in operating an agchemical and distribution business in the Asia Pacific region.
The company has an excellent network of national distributors, formulators and repackers in various countries within the Asian region through which Organic Interceptor can be effectively and efficiently marketed.
Manufacture of concentrated Organic Interceptor will continue to be undertaken in New Zealand.
The MOU represents great potential for the distribution of Organic Interceptor and other forthcoming Certified Organics products to a potentially vast market. Interest in organic products is high throughout Asia, as indeed in Western countries, with customers prepared to pay a premium for non-chemical alternatives. The initial focus will be home, garden, urban maintenance and general organic farming sectors.
We are currently in the process of launching our ready to use home garden range of Organic Interceptor in New Zealand. These products are now on the shelf in many hardware stores and garden centres. Future products will include certified organic fungicides, pesticides, plant growth enhancers, personal hygiene products, and household and industrial cleaners.
Given that the global organic market produce is growing by 20% annually, we are confident that there will be further interest in our company and product offering.
