Issued on behalf of Fiji Visitors Bureau June 14, 2002
Air Pacific has announced an operating profit of $F9.675 million for 2002 compared to a $38.5 million loss in the last
financial year.
Air Pacific Board Chairman, Gerald Barrack in announcing the results, said that the May 2000 hostage crisis and the
terrorist attacks of September ll in the United States severely affected global aviation causing dramatic reduction in
demand, and an increase in costs.
He added that urgent action was taken by Air Pacific to reduce costs and maximise the utilisation of aircraft, and
added, "that the financial year has been one of recovery and consolidation of key strategies."
