Contact Energy - Appointment Of Additional Director
The board of directors of Contact Energy Ltd today announced the appointment of an additional director to the board of the company. The new director is Mr William Heller, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Contact’s majority shareholder, Edison Mission Energy.
Mr Heller’s appointment brings to seven the total number of directors of the company. The constitution of the Company requires the appointment of between three and eight directors.
“We are pleased to announce Mr Heller’s appointment to the Board of Contact,” said Contact’s Chairman, Mr Phil Pryke. “His international experience and background in the energy industry provide a valuable resource for the company.”
William J Heller – Biographical Note:
Mr Heller, a Canadian, is President and Chief Executive Officer of Edison Mission Energy (EME), a world-class generation business specialising in the development, acquisition, construction, management and operation of global power production facilities.
Prior to his election as CEO on January 1, 2002, Heller was a senior vice president at EME and president of its Europe, Central Asia, Middle East and Africa Division. Previously, he was senior vice president of strategic planning and new business development for Edison International, EME's parent company.
Prior to joining Edison International in 1996, Heller was with the international management consultancy, McKinsey and Company, Inc. From 1991 to 1995, he was a principal and head of McKinsey's Los Angeles Energy practice.
Before that, he was senior engagement manager and principal with McKinsey's London-based European Energy practice, which he co-founded in 1986. Mr Heller joined McKinsey in 1982 with the firm's Houston office. Before joining McKinsey, he was administrative manager for Nansivik Mines Limited in Canada's Northwest Territories.
Mr Heller graduated from McGill University in Montreal and earned a master of business administration degree from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
