Kiwis Mob UK Travel Photography Web Site

Published: Tue 28 May 2002 09:41 AM
I run a travel photography web site, The Lightbox www.the-lightbox.com which has pictures of my travels in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the UK, specialising in mountain ranges such as the Himalaya, High Tatras, the Alps, and Snowdonia, and visits to over 20 countries.
On Thursday 23rd May, Max Newmann, editor of the xtra MSN NZ newsletter told subscribers to the New Zealand web portal and ISP:
Around the world in 80 clicks Forget Jules Verne, now you can embark on an online journey around the world in 80 clicks (or thereabouts). Visit this site to take in some stunning sights and amazing travel photos from every corner of the globe at: http://www.the-lightbox.com/
Since then, the site, which normally receives around 100 individual visitors a day, has had over 2000 visitors from New Zealand, and the numbers are still rising!
Following The Guardian UK newspaper's Netjetter fiasco, when Ellie Levenson announced that New Zealand was pretty but boring, it is hoped that this will go some way to restoring cordial Anglo-New Zealand relations, and reassure Kiwis that not all British travellers are as blinkered or oblivious to the natural beauty of foreign places as Ellie.
I hope to visit New Zealand some day to see for myself the fantastic scenery, get into some adrenaline sports, and of course take lots of photographs!
Best regards
Simon Kirwan
