The Employers & Manufacturers Association (Northern) says local business, like most other New Zealanders is unimpressed by scuttlebutt
over whether or not there will be an early election.
"Elections should be held when they're due and expected," said EMA's chief executive, Alasdair Thompson,
"The three year election cycle is already too short to maintain sound government without several months being cut off
it.
"Besides, there's pile of legislation Government has promised to attend to before the election - Parliament needs to go
full term to complete matters already committed to.
"The only valid reason for calling an early election is if Government loses the confidence of Parliament. At present
that's likely only if the coalition should fail."
