New Resource On Trade Network Website

Quotes from politicians, economists and even the Pope figure in a comprehensive review of arguments for and against trade liberalisation which has been added to the website of the Trade Liberalisation Network www.tln.org.nz.
Speaking to the Trade NZ National Export Conference in Auckland, TLN Executive Director Stephen Jacobi said the Network was committed to providing resources for the champions of trade liberalisation. “The Trade Liberalisation Resource Base is a comprehensive piece of research undertaken for us by the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research. It will be an invaluable tool in carrying the arguments for trade in the public debate”.
The Resource Base takes as its starting point a number of arguments commonly used against trade liberalisation. Each argument is analysed with reference to quotes in favour and against. The whole presentation is made in non-technical language and fuller references and on line links are provided. The Resource Base may be consulted on line or downloaded as a PDF document.
Mr Jacobi said the Resource Base was part of the TLN’s programme of building broad public understanding and support for trade. “More needs to be done to demonstrate to New Zealanders just what is at stake for them through further reform of world markets. The TLN website is already packed full of up-to-date information relevant to New Zealand’s trade interests. Further TLN publications are in the pipeline”, concluded Mr Jacobi.
