26 April 2002
It's a case of if you're not fast, you're last and snow enthusiasts only have a few days left to get hold of a Mt
Ruapehu 2002 Season Pass.
Season passes are on sale until midnight Tuesday 30 April for $279 for adults, $219 for students and $149 for youths
aged 16 and under.
Those who miss out will have to pay $579 for an adult pass, $519 for students and $289 for youths from May 1 onwards. Mt
Ruapehu is also offering a limited release Ultimate New Zealand Snow Pass for $449 for unlimited skiing on Mt Ruapehu
and Cardrona. "The season passes have been incredibly popular with sales to date well above last year," says Dave Mazey,
General Manager, Ruapehu Alpine Lifts. "It seems everyone is excited by our news of a $3.5m upgrade for Mt Ruapehu, and
can't wait for the season to begin."
Skiers and boarders visiting Mt Ruapehu this winter will benefit from the largest single investment Ruapehu Alpine Lifts
(RAL) has made on the mountain for 10 years.
RAL is spending $3.5m this year on developments, which includes extending snowmaking coverage up the Rockgarden at
Whakapapa. Further improvements include upgrading terrain and snowmaking in Happy Valley, and replacing the rope tows on
Happy Valley with a new double chairlift and two platter lifts.
Turoa is having a major seating upgrade of the Giant Café and a complete refit of the High Noon T-bar.
Season passes can be purchased online at www.mtruapehu.com, or by phoning 0508 Ruapehu (782 734).
