Telecom Expands Its 027 Coverage And Services With New Facilities In Far North
Telecom Mobile customers in the Far North district will benefit from Telecom’s state of the art 027 mobile phone
services planned to be operational by early May.
Telecom is expanding its 027 network with the addition of improved facilities at Kerikeri in the Bay of Islands and at
Windy Hill in the Hokianga.
Telecom General Manager Mobile Networks, Stephen Crombie, says the new facilities will provide more mobile coverage to
the growing number of Telecom’s 027 customers in the Far North district.
The Windy Hill facilities will provide coverage to areas surrounding the Hokianga Harbour and the Kerikeri facilities
will improve coverage in the township.
This investment of over $500,000 in the Far North region is part of Telecom’s national expansion programme of the 027
mobile service. The 027 network allows customers to access a wide range of voice, data and online products and services.
Telecom Mobile acknowledges the importance of mobile communications to the economic development of regional communities,
especially for local businesses and tourism.
Mr Crombie says the new facilities at Hokianga will also provide improvements to safety in the area by enabling better
communications for emergency services.
Telecom Mobile customers in the Far North district make over half a million mobile phone calls each month on the 025 and
027 mobile networks.
Telecom will continue to maintain and support its analogue and digital (025) networks for the next few years, so
customers can still use their current phones on those networks.
