Teradata Appoints James Powell As VP For Communications Industry In Asia Pacific
In a move that will solidify its leadership position in the data warehousing market in Asia Pacific, Teradata, a
division of NCR Corporation, has appointed James Powell vice president for the Communications industry in the region.
"James' appointment in Asia Pacific reflects Teradata's confidence in the region and a strong commitment to our
clients," said Julian Beavis, Teradata vice president for Australia and New Zealand.
Powell brings with him more than 23 years of communications experience. Before joining Teradata, Powell was vice
president of technology at Far EasTone Telecommunications in Taiwan.
"My main priority is to help Teradata customers exploit the capabilities of data warehousing and to provide strategic
advice on concrete business issues," said Powell.
After spending several years with AT Wireless, GTE and most recently with Taiwan's Far EasTone Telecommunication, Powell is no green horn when it comes to
understanding the complex technology and business issues being faced by telecom companies.
"Having come from the other side of the fence, I'm in a good position to advise our clients on their business
requirements and technology needs," said Powell.
Telecom companies have to realise that they will face a different set of business issues now that the technology and the
market in general have matured. Users now demand different products and services and telcos have to respond to those new
demands accordingly," said Powell.
