Ford New Zealand enjoyed a buoyant month of sales in February, with the undoubted highlight being a double success for
the new Ford Mondeo.
Not only was the Ford Mondeo the best selling new vehicle in the medium car segment, maintaining a complete domination
of the class and outselling its nearest competitor at a rate of almost two-to-one, but it also received more award
winning accolades.
The Ford Mondeo scooped the top spot in the New Zealand Autocar Magazine awards, as well as being recognised as the New
Zealand Car of the Year as determined by the New Zealand Motoring Writers' Guild.
"The Ford Mondeo continues to impress, both in sales and the awards that it has won. Everyone associated with Ford is
justifiably proud of this fine motor vehicle," said Marketing Managing, Steve Pleciak.
Segment leading sales success was also achieved by the Ford Explorer, which recorded twice as many registrations as its
closest competitor.
"We still have a large order bank remaining for Explorer, and in particular on Falcon, which we aim to fulfill over the
coming weeks. This has eventuated largely as a result of an overwhelming demand for XR Series Falcon," said Mr. Pleciak.
"Whilst our dealer network has struggled to keep up with demand over January and February, we are confident that with
increased stock levels arriving in country the situation will correct itself and we are looking forward to another
successful month," he said.
