Telecom's new web site scooped the top prize for Site of the Year as well as best corporate site at the prestigious
NetGuide Web Awards 2001 in Wellington last night.
Telecom won NetGuide's top honour out of a field of 98 entries. The overall winner is selected from winners in all
categories that this year included travel.co.nz, cuisine.co.nz and nzherald.co.nz.
Candidates for the title of NetGuide site of the year must be local, have great design, original ideas and a real "Kiwi
flavour".
Telecom's revamped web site, which was launched in August this year, reflected all these qualities and more. In their
summing up, the judges commented: "The depth and diversity of information on this site and the ease with which it can be
accessed are a showcase example of why the web is such an important part of our future.
"It won't be long before all companies will need a presence like this, and what a great lead has been set."
The Web and DNA Design carried out the redevelopment and redesign of telecom.co.nz. Earlier this month the site won the
Business to Consumer category at the TUANZ Interactive Awards taking first place for its developers and designers.
