The Interisland Line has launched a new visual identity, underlining its position as a discrete business unit within
Tranz Rail.
The blue and green coloured logo is designed to communicate elements of sea, land, and the vital link The Interisland
Line provides between the two islands.
As an additional feature to the logo, and to tie in The Interisland Line’s passenger brands, The Interislander’s Pelorus
Jack dolphin and The Lynx’s wave design will be used as a supporting ‘brand strip’.
Commenting on the new design, Peter Monk, The Interisland Line’s Marketing & Sales Manager said: “The launch of the new logo is one of a number of steps designed to communicate a more distinct
entity and clear vision for the business. The visual execution embodies flow and movement, with the italicised font
expressing forward momentum and progress.
The new approach, however, is not intended to replace passenger brands The Interislander and The Lynx.
“These brands hold significant equity and will continue to be strongly represented to customers and the wider community.
However, the new identity will allow us to communicate that these brands ‘belong’ to The Interisland Line, and that this
is the business with whom our customers interact.”
Over the coming months, The Interisland Line logo will be incorporated where appropriate into stationary and signage,
both onboard and at the terminals. Brochure material and the web site www.interislandline.co.nz will also be updated to
feature the new look in conjunction with the existing passenger brands.
