Another Kiwi fashion success: Lucire overtakes Elle, Vogue UK sites
Wellington, October 29 (JY Media) After a successful L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week, during which its news page was updated hourly between shows, New Zealand-HQed fashion title Lucire received an encouraging boost with the latest web rankings from Alexa Internet (www.alexa.com) showing that it had overtaken the sites of Elle and British Vogue.
Lucire (lucire.com) is ranked 28,408th of all the sites on the web tracked by Alexa, with French-language Elle (www.elle.fr) a shade below at 28,504 and Vogue UK (www.vogue.co.uk) at 33,961.
Lucire, currently an internet-only title, is one of a select group of online brands that have pulled ahead in 2001, including trade site WGSN (at 24,682) and consumer directory Fashion New Zealand (109,365).
The latest statistics show remarkable growth since the last update in late August in two Condé Nast titles, Vogue Deutschland and Vogue Australia, placed at 70,687 and 85,261 respectively. Its style.com portal remained high at 3,380, indicating that Condé Nast may have finally sorted out its web strategy.
Harper's Bazaar was ranked at 128,532, another improving site.
Modest falls were recorded for numerous cross-media brands such as American, Korean and Swedish editions of Elle and German Cosmopolitan. However, the Taiwanese edition of Elle improved with a healthy increase of almost 4,000 places to 18,018.
JY Media, the publishing company behind Lucire, says that its rise may be partly due to the demise of several dot coms in 2001, including Fashion Live and Anatomique, with their traffic being shared amongst other independent pure-plays.
During New Zealand Fashion Week, Lucire updated hourly with news from the Auckland Town Hall and other locations around the city. It was the only web site to update so rapidly with events, thanks to the facilities provided by the organizers of L'Oréal New Zealand Fashion Week and their public relations' firm, NBPR.
This week, Lucire will publish a review of New Zealand Fashion Week events.
