Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd has made its second key external appointment and completed the formation of its senior
team, with the announcement that Glen Petersen of Telecom New Zealand will be its Group Director Human Resources.
Mr Petersen, an Australian citzen, was until Friday Telecom’s General Manager Human Resources. He has more than twenty
years’ experience in the food, beverages, hospitality and telecommunications sectors in New Zealand, Australia, Canada
and the United States.
Fonterra CEO Craig Norgate said the company was delighted to have appointed a candidate with Mr Petersen’s experience in
Human Resources across a range of sectors which are highly-relevant to the company, and to have completed its senior
appointments.
“I have said from the day I was appointed that if Fonterra is to succeed in deliviering on the promises we have made, it
will because we as a team succeed, so the top HR appointment is critical,“ Mr Norgate said. “Glen brings both his
experience and external perspectives to the company and we are fortunate to have him aboard. He has a record of success
in developing and implementing HR and organisational structures that have lifted the performance of the businesses in
which he has held leadership positions. We are looking to him to provide leadership across the group.”
As Group Director Human Resources, Mr Petersen is charged with creating an organisational culture across the group where
all staff can excel. His responsibilities include creating an evolving organisational design, developing and attracting
top executive talent, and forging and maintaining strategic relationships with external parties and stakeholders
internationally and within New Zealand.
Mr Petersen will report to Mr Norgate and be a member of Fonterra’s senior team, along with NZMP Managing Director Chris
Moller, NEW ZEALAND MILK Managing Director David Pilkington, Chief Financial Officer Graham Stuart and Chief Development
Officer Alexander Töldte.
