The Interisland Line Announces Summer Times and Fares
The Interisland Line has just carried out a review of all of its passenger services and a new improved summer timetable
is to be introduced as a result.
Effective from December 8 it will allow holidaymakers and day-trippers alike the ability to maximise the time they spend
in the South Island.
For instance The Lynx will now depart Picton at the new time of 7pm after December 8 giving passengers extra time before
they have to return to Wellington.
The Interisland Line has already commenced a programme to upgrade passenger terminal facilities in Picton and Wellington
- something that the company is well aware will be greeted by much enthusiasm by users of these facilities.
To achieve this minor fare increases will be introduced from 7 November 2001.
Marketing & Sales Manager Peter Monk says they want to give everyone plenty of notice about the planned increases.
“This means that people can still get in their summer holidays at the old price as long as they book and pay before
November 7 this year,” Mr Monk says.
The Interisland Line’s new summer times and fares brochure called ‘Zip or Cruise’ will be available from the middle of
this month and this highlights the new fares and booking conditions that will apply from 7 November as well as the
timetable changes effective 8 December 2001.
Other important changes soon to take place include that, from 7 November 2001, any passenger 14 years or younger will
have to be accompanied by an adult.
The Interisland Line is looking forward to welcoming passengers onboard this coming holiday season and would like to
remind those people intending to travel over summer to book now to avoid disappointment later on.
