Land Rover Announces New Structure
Land Rover New Zealand announced today the restructuring of its Auckland distribution network. Following the closure of
Rover City in Parnell, a new site is being developed and will open mid-September.
Situated on the Panmure roundabout in South East Auckland, this new site will provide a temporary facility during the
construction of a purpose-built Land Rover Centre.
Richard Holden, current owner of Roverland, Land Rover's authorised dealer on Auckland's North Shore, will also own and
operate the new site.
"The Panmure site has all the trappings of a great facility; accessibility, superb service areas, customer parking and
display space," said Land Rover New Zealand Managing Director, Peter Lockie.
"In addition, it also provides us with a location that meets the needs of all our customer groups. We have large
customer groupings not only in the central and eastern suburbs but also in the rural areas around Clevedon, Pukekohe and
Brookby. For the first time, our network will reflect the diverse spread of our customer base."
The new Land Rover Centre, planned for 2003 will be the subject of a further announcement. The site will be a greenfield
site, purpose built to reflect Land Rover's brand values.
Roverland's Managing Director Richard Holden said, "the project is an exciting one and the opportunity is considerable.
By July Land Rover had increased sales by 23% in Auckland over 2000, and with ongoing product improvements and new model
introductions we are confident that growth will continue."
Both the new facility and Roverland will be named "Auckland Land Rover". Customers in the Auckland region will be
contacted directly regarding the change.
