New Zealand Post Selects IBM As Preferred Supplier For Computer Hardware
New Zealand Post has selected IBM NZ Ltd as preferred supplier for its desktop and mobile computers.
The three-year contract covers New Zealand Post’s 2300 desktop personal computers and laptops.
The selection follows the issue of an RFP that closed on 19 April, with subsequent shortlisting of proposals in May.
Electronic Business Commercial Manager Paul Millin said IBM demonstrated the clearest understanding of New Zealand Post’s determination to reduce its total cost of ownership.
“Our concern throughout this process was to identify a supplier who could help us improve the way we do business over the long-term rather than simply driving down their margins.
“IBM demonstrated the strongest commitment to developing a transparent relationship with New Zealand Post through non-proprietary tools to manage total cost of ownership and by providing us with clear insights into their methodology.”
Sunil Joshi, IBM Southern Region Manager, said the cornerstone of the IBM value proposition was the understanding IBM demonstrated of New Zealand Post’s business with a focus on total cost of ownership.
“The strength of IBM’s offer lay in the combination of a strong line of technology products with the services capability that together provided a compelling value proposition that was meaningful to New Zealand Post.
“IBM is delighted to have secured this contract and we look forward to working closely with New Zealand Post over the next three years.”
IBM will work with Datacom, New Zealand Post’s supplier of desktop and network support and training. New Zealand Post will soon undertake a roll-out of Windows 2000 across the company.
