Riverside Casino Announces Costs Claimed Will Go To Community
The Board of Riverside Casino Limited has today announced that the court costs received from the Hamilton casino
opposition group will be given back to the local community by way of donation to the local Salvation Army.
Riverside Casino Limited Chairman Evan Davies said the decision to return the money to the Hamilton community was a
unanimous decision of the Board.
“The process we’ve been through has obviously been costly, however we want this to end positively for Hamilton. We have
always maintained our commitment to the Hamilton community and it is for this reason that we have decided to donate the
funds received to the Hamilton Salvation Army Oasis Centre, to assist their efforts in helping local people,” said Mr
Davies.
In a letter to the Opponent’s counsel, Riverside Casino Limited indicated that its cost entitlements were close to
$100,000, however it would only claim the amount of $50,244 - previously indicated by the opposition group as the total
held by them in trust.
