Gull Offers To Help Major Oil Companies With Diesel
Gull Petroleum, whose product is unaffected by the quality problems currently afflicting diesel from the major oil companies, has offered to make supplies of its product available to competitors.
Gull Executive Director Neil Rae said his company had offered over the weekend to make its higher quality diesel available to the major companies to ensure New Zealand diesel users would not be filling up with unreliable fuel.
“We aren’t trying to profit from it,” he said. “We would be content to accept like quality product in return.”
To date the offer has not been taken up.
Gull’s diesel and petrol supplies are fully imported rather than drawn from the Whangarei refinery, where the major oil companies source their product and where the problem originated.
Mr Rae said Gull prides itself on offering in New Zealand a higher quality, environmentally cleaner, diesel that delivers increased economy with no loss of power.
Gull diesel is available at an expanding network of 20 North Island sites which includes outlets at Whangarei, Palmerston North, Hamilton, Rotorua and Tauranga as well as Auckland.
Perth-based Gull was founded in 1976 by Fred Rae, Neil Rae’s father and today has more than 100 service stations throughout Western Australia.
