More than 23,000 car fleet managers, fleet operators, finance directors, managing directors and others in charge of company fleets in the United Kingdom have chosen the Alfa Romeo 147 as best user-chooser company car in the world.
Just weeks away from its New Zealand launch, the User Chooser award at the 2001 Fleet World Honours is the latest prize for the Alfa 147, which is already the 2001 European Car of the Year. The award is given to the car that best meets the needs of car users who have a free choice of company car, but which still has met running cost and reliability criteria that are essential to the running of any car fleet.
The judges commented that: ''The Alfa 147's tremendous sense of style was a major factor. The driving experience also proves to be just as good as the car's looks, especially with the 2.0-litre engine. With six airbags it is also the safest car in the class. Top of the range versions bristle with electronic equipment and the vehicle can be specified with the best in-car entertainment system at the price."
Richard Hogarth, Alfa Romeo UK's fleet director said after the award was presented in the prestigious Royal Automobile Club in London's Pall Mall: ''We are particularly pleased that the Alfa 147 has won this award, since it's arguably the hardest to win, being open to products from all sectors.''
