ANZ Opens New Branches and Installs More ATM’s
ANZ will open two new branches this week and is installing 10 new ATM machines, as part of its multi-million dollar
technology and infrastructure upgrade.
At last week’s Interim Result, ANZ announced $39 million had already been spent upgrading its technology, premises and
operational infrastructure.
ANZ Head of Group Marketing Mark Thomas says the upgrade plan is part of ANZ’s aim to become an ‘e-bank with a human
face’.
“Many of our customers prefer the convenience of banking with us through the Internet and by telephone. However some
customers also prefer using our branches. Our upgrade plans embrace both of these customers needs” says Mr Thomas.
The new ‘premier’ branches will be located at 107-109 Queens Drive in Lower Hutt, and in the new Botany Downs retail
development in East Auckland.
ANZ Parnell in Auckland has also been extensively refurbished. At the end of last year ANZ renovated its ‘flag-ship’
Auckland city branch on the corner of Queen and Victoria streets. Further upgrades are planned.
The 10 new ATM machines which have been installed in Auckland’s CBD, follow the nationwide upgrade of ANZ’s last
remaining older IBM models.
The Bank’s old fleet of 92 IBM ATM’s have been replaced with state-of-the-art models from NCR, featuring larger sunlight
viewable screens. The NCR models also allow additional features such as the top-up facility for pre-paid mobile
customers using any ANZ Night and Day ATM. ANZ was first to introduce this facility into New Zealand in December last
year, and is exploring further enhancements.
The Bank has 362 ATMs in New Zealand – the second largest network.
