New Chairman For Federated Farmers Meat And Fibre Producers
A new National Chair of Federated Farmers Meat and Fibre Producers was elected at the Council's AGM on Thursday.
The new chairman, Murray Taggart, is a sheep and cropping farmer from North Canterbury. Mr Taggart has been on the Council for many years and on the Executive since 1997.
"I am very pleased to receive the support of my colleagues," said Mr Taggart. "Interests of meat and fibre producers will continue to need a strong voice particularly as the restructuring of Meat New Zealand and New Zealand Wool Board continues."
Joining Mr Taggart as Vice Chairmen is Wanganui farmer Steve Anstis, and Wipahi farmer Graham Clarke. Jean Martin (Wairoa) joins Ian Corney (Ongarue) on the Executive.
The outgoing chairman, Chris Lester, was thanked for the work he has done as Chairman of the Council over the last two years. Mr Lester has recently been appointed to the position of Chairman of Horizons Manuatu/ Wanganui Regional Council and also as a director of the Animal Health Board.
