The world’s number 1 online auction site and the most visited New Zealand Web site join forces.
The award-winning Xtra Web site, xtra.co.nz, now has a new channel partner in the form of international online auction house, eBay. This will mean all xtra.co.nz visitors will be able to easily access the newly launched New Zealand eBay site to register. Xtra will also integrate eBay Search boxes within its site to enable Xtra users to quickly locate auction items on specific categories.
The partnership between the two businesses was announced this morning, in conjunction with eBay’s launch into the New Zealand market.
Consumer General Manager for Xtra, Rod Snodgrass, said the agreement between the two companies was a natural alliance between two leading brands and an important step in the development of New Zealand online auctions and shopping.
“eBay is internationally renowned. Xtra is the leading Internet experience in New Zealand. Together, we will be able to provide a safe reliable and versatile service to New Zealand Internet users,” he said.
New Zealanders would be able to access eBay through Xtra within the next week.
Established in September 1995, eBay has over 22.5 million registered users world-wide and is the number one most popular shopping site on the Internet when measured by total user minutes according to the Media Metrix September 2000 web report. In 2000 the value of goods traded using eBay was over $US 5 billion.
