The eagerly awaited Hyundai Santa Fe’s success in the USA, where it has received rave reviews and strong sales since
launch, is being reflected in NZ press reports and retail sales since the arrival and launch of the first Santa Fe’s in
late 2000.
The combination of stunning, spacious styling and a powerful 2.7 V6 powerplant on the GLS has proved attractive to SUV
buyers throughout NZ, with many people trading up to be seen in the new Santa Fe, which offers more space and power than
its major competitors, Vitara, CRV and RAV4.
As in the USA, where there are reports of customers paying over retail price, demand in NZ has outweighed supply, and
the Santa Fe has many buyers eagerly waiting the arrival of the next shipment as Hyundai dealerships around the country
sell out stock and are forced to take forward orders.
Hyundai Automotive New Zealand General Manager Philip Eustace says, “The success of the Santa Fe in NZ was not
unexpected. With the feedback that we have received both locally and the buzz from overseas markets, there was a ready
market for the Santa Fe in NZ upon its arrival, hence the impressive sales with very little promotion on out part. Once
people have seen the vehicle it really sells itself. I am still being stopped at traffic lights by people wanting to
have a closer look”!
With more Santa Fe’s NZ bound over the next few months, and little decrease in demand throughout the country, it looks
like this winning sales trend is bound to continue.
