Holliday Group Opens UK Office

Published: Tue 20 Mar 2001 03:36 PM
The first international office for wireless development company Holliday Group is now open in London. David Tinkler, former gen-i NZ eBusiness Manager, has joined the Holliday Group to head up the new office as UK Country Manager. He is joined by software engineer Tony Sinclair – the brains behind the development of Holliday’s highly commended multi-protocol communications server, iConnect.
Demand for business mobility solutions is gaining momentum worldwide. ITouch Plc acquired The Holliday Group 100% in December 2000 as part of a global strategy to offer its customers an extended range of innovative business mobility products and services. iTouch has international offices in the UK, Ireland, South Africa, Israel, Australia and New Zealand - a geographical reach that enables Hollidays to expand its product offering.
Since the acquisition new business enquiries for wireless technology has surged in New Zealand as well as globally. The Christchurch development team is rapidly modifying New Zealand products into generic applications requiring local customisation and quickly expanding the international development team.
David Tinkler is an experienced innovator in the adoption of new technologies and their application to customer requirements. He has over 18 years experience in software, networks and infrastructure requirements. The past nine years of which were at gen-i as South Island Manager, Software Development Manager and latterly as Managing Principal - eBusiness.
“Wireless technology and the innovative applications that Hollidays are developing with it, is exciting stuff. The acquisition has provided both companies a unique combination of skills, technology, service offering and global positioning. And the possibilities within that to initiate and develop new applications and technologies are limitless,” said Tinkler. “The challenges ahead for the market provide exciting opportunities, and we are looking forward to being a leader in the UK & Ireland – replicating the New Zealand position.”
The first of many UK software engineer is Tony Sinclair. Tony joined the company from university in 1997 and is experienced in the design and development of communications routing software and WAP site development. While at Holliday he has developed the iConnect multi-protocol communications server. The server facilitates routing between varying network types including MAP27, GSM, GPRS, CDPD and Ethernet protocols.
Phil Holliday, Managing Director of the Holliday Group said: “These are exciting and challenging times for everyone at Hollidays. The opening of the UK office has added a new dimension to business life - least of all the acclimatisation from being a small company to becoming part of a 250-employee strong international corporation. The acquisition has involved a lot of hard graft and we’re succeeding. David and Tony are already getting stuck into their new UK positions. Together their skills and experience are the foundation to what will become a strong UK arm of the company.”
The UK office is located adjacent to iTouch plc offices on the 5th floor of Independent House in London’s Canary Wharf.
