Siemens And TNS Cablecraft Join Forces To Create New Player In Converged Telecommunications Market
Auckland, 14 March 2001 - Siemens New Zealand's Information and Communications Enterprise Networks division, supplier of
advanced telecommunications products, and TNS Cablecraft, a leading provider of networking solutions, have joined forces
to create a new company, SieTel. The combined expertise of the two companies will allow SieTel to offer New Zealand
businesses fully integrated communications solutions that leverage the convergence of voice and data technologies.
"The communications market is changing, with voice and data technology rapidly becoming part of the same continuum. To
compete in this environment, we need to provide an integrated range of products and services that encompass all the
technologies in that continuum," says Greg Bezuidenhout, General Manager, Siemens Information and Communications
Enterprise Division, Australasia.
"The capabilities of Siemens' Enterprise Networks and TNS Cablecraft marry perfectly to create a portfolio that delivers
effectively to this market. Siemens is a leading supplier of voice and data technology products to New Zealand
companies, while TNS Cablecraft is an established provider of outstanding networking solutions. Our combined skillset is
ideal to take us and our customers into the future of telecommunications."
Bezuidenhout says the change fits with Siemens' HiPath strategy of providing customers with a clear migration path from
products and services that they might buy today, to solutions that emerge in the future.
John McAdams, Managing Director of TNS Cablecraft, says the new company aims to be a significant player in the New
Zealand market.
"We have some of the best people in the industry on our staff, working with best of breed products and solutions. We
also have national coverage, with representation in all the main centres of New Zealand.
"Our aim is to offer New Zealand organisations a one stop shop for communications solutions that give them a competitive
advantage now and in the future," he says.
McAdams will be the Managing Director of SieTel, which will be owned by Integrated Technologies Group. Kieron Gilpin,
Business Manager of Siemens New Zealand's Information and Communications Enterprise Networks Division, will be the
General Manager of Sales and Marketing for SieTel.
