NZFOE had its busiest day of the year as a result of the Reserve Bank’
s OCR statement. Volume for the day was 11,477 futures and 64 options contracts with a face value of NZ $5.74 billion, which is significantly above the average daily volume for the year of 3,517 contracts per day.
The trading was predominately in the 90-Day Bank Bill Contracts.
The Mar-01 90 Day Bank Bill Futures Contract settled up 12 points at 9362 (6.38%). The June-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled up 13 points at 9389 (6.11%). The Sept-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled up 12 points at 9407 (5.93%) and the Dec-01 90 Day Bank Bill Contract settled up 11 points at 9408 (5.92%).
The Mar-01 Three Year Government Stock Futures Contract settled up 10 points at 9418 (5.82%) and the Mar-01 Ten Year Government Stock Futures Contract settled unchanged at 9387 (6.13%).
The Mar-01 NZSE-10 Share Index Futures Contract settled unchanged at 897. The January-01 Electricity Futures Contract settled at $29.00 M/wh.
