Compudigm Signs Million Dollar Deal With Conrad Jupiter Casino
30 November 2000
The innermost secrets of casinos are being revealed in greater detail than ever before and the key is held by innovative Wellington company, Compudigm International.
Compudigm has just won a second contract in Australia, to install its business intelligence software, seePOWER, into Queensland’s Conrad Jupiter and Conrad Treasury properties. This follows a successful debut for the software in Kerry Packer’s Crown Casino in Melbourne last year.
Conservative early estimates put the Australian deal as a $1,000,000+ earner for Compudigm, and it comes hard on the heels of another six figure deal just signed by Compudigm, to install the same software in the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, supported by a three year agreement.
Andrew Cardno, President and co-founder of the three year old company, says interest in the system is on a roll, with a soon to be announced nationwide US casino chain currently in final negotiation.
He explains that despite the apparent simplicity of the software “ it turns stacks of figures and charts into highly visual maps to show levels of activity taking place, what’s working and what’s not”, it is actually one of the most highly sophisticated advanced key performance indicator analysis tools around.
The unique software, ‘seePOWER ’ was developed by Compudigm originally to help the Ministry of Fisheries analyse fishing data. Casinos were next off the block, quick to see the value of being able to interpret what competitive edge they could extract from data. It has application across a range of fields from financial, retail to telecommunications; during the Sydney Olympics, Telstra used the software to monitor its mobile network usage and avoid overloading.
Compudigm is expanding its Wellington staff (now more than 55 people) and has just opened an office in Las Vegas to provide an on-the-spot presence for its US customers.
