DSL Publishing Ltd Sold to Brooker’s Ltd
Brooker’s has acquired DSL Publishing Ltd, a leading New Zealand publisher of environmental and local government information.
DSL will continue to operate from Takapuna, Auckland with its existing staff.
Brooker’s Managing Director Neil Story said that both Brooker’s and DSL’s products and brands would remain in the market. Research is planned to identify opportunities to help better joint servicing of the market.
“I am pleased to confirm that the principals of DSL, Richard Burton and Bronwen Hughes, will stay with the company through the transition. Richard will continue in a consultative capacity and remain on the DSL author panel, and Bronwen will continue in a operational management role,” said Mr Story.
“The acquisition of DSL consolidates Brooker’s position as the leading publisher to the New Zealand legal and professional information market. DSL will facilitate new growth opportunities, particularly continued expansion into electronic delivery,” said Mr Story.
DSL Publishing complements the Brooker’s plan to extend its content scope and customer base. During 2000, Brooker’s has also acquired BRIEFCASE, a highly regarded case law indexing service, and “Employment Today”, New Zealand’s premier employment magazine.
Mr Burton established DSL Publishing some 17 years ago. The company quickly grew from providing Town and Country Planning Act case law from a rudimentary database to now providing a complete suite of hardcopy and electronic publications in the environmental and local government arena.
“I am impressed with the commitments made by Brooker’s to maintain and develop the DSL brand, culture and product mix. With the developments already in the pipeline and the support gained through this new agreement I look forward to the future growth of DSL under the Brooker’s umbrella,” said Mr Burton.
