Gateway Unveils Its Next-Generation, Ultra-Portable, Offering A High-Res Screen, Powerful Processors And A Choice Of
Colours.
AUCKLAND, October 19 2000 – Gateway today unveiled its next generation of ultra-portables, the Gateway Solo 3350,
offering industry-leading features in a stylish, no-compromise notebook computer.
Featuring a sturdy magnesium-alloy case in a choice of metallic blue or silver, the Solo offers high-performance
features that are important to business users and consumers.
With prices starting at $5,999 the system is under 2.6 cm thin, weighs under 1.7 kg and offers the power of Intel
Celeron 500Mhz or Intel Pentium III 600MHz processors with SpeedStep Technology. Its 12.1-inch high-resolution XGA
display enables users to view more text on screen, making the system ideal for applications such as spreadsheets,
presentations and games.

The Solo 3350 comes with an Ultra Port Replicator, which provides a one-step connection to desktop peripherals such as a
printer, monitor, mouse and keyboard. This enables users to transition quickly from the road to the office and back
again. Ports include VGA monitor, parallel, USB, two PS/2, RJ-45 network, RJ-11 phone, serial, sound and microphone
ports and external media bay connector.
The system features a standard external media bay which allows users to carry only the peripherals they need. All
systems include a CD-ROM drive and there is also an optional DVD-ROM drive available, allowing users to customise their
system to best fit their usability requirements. A standard floppy disk drive is optional.
The Solo 3350’s integrated v.90 modem and 10/100 Ethernet adapter allows users to access the Internet, connect to the
office network and use multiple peripherals without carrying additional components. The system comes with a bridge
battery that enables the user to swap the main battery while on standby mode. The main battery carries a LED gauge which
indicates whether the battery is charging or fully charged.
The Solo 3350 can be configured with a 20GB Ultra ATA hard disk drive, and comes standard with 64MB of SDRAM, expandable
to 256MB. Despite its compact size, it features a full-sized, 84-key notebook keyboard, comfortable enough for any size
hands.
For home users, the Gateway Solo 3350 comes standard with Windows Millennium Edition, the latest operating system from
Microsoft. For business users, the Gateway Solo 3350 can be configured with Windows 2000 Professional, which features
a rich set of capabilities specially designed to support the diverse needs of mobile professionals.
Support for Advanced Configuration and Power Interface allows users to configure the system to conserve battery life.
The Hibernate mode turns off all power to the computing function, and takes less than 30 seconds to resume. Waking from
the Suspend mode takes only a few seconds, and enables hours to be added to battery life. An Offline Folders feature
enables mobile users to access network-based files, folders and favorite web sites when disconnected from the network.

The Gateway Solo 3350 is available now in two configurations and starting at $5,999, the Solo 3350CL features a 500MHz
Intel® Celeron™ processor, 64MB of SDRAM, 6GB hard drive, 24X CD-ROM, and an TFT 12.1-inch display. The Solo 3350XL
features a PIII-600MHz processor, 64MB SDRAM, 10GB hard drive, 24X CD-ROM and a 12.1-inch TFT display for $6,599.
