“SKY TV is pleased to launch this new service in New Zealand, as it is already available in different guises in many countries throughout the world, including Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and the USA,” said Tony O’Brien, SKY Television’s Director of Communications.
The signal from Parliament, which will be provided by TVNZ, is a positive sign for the start of a new relationship between the two companies. “Delivering this digital service for TVNZ, through SKY’s satellite platform, signals what we hope becomes a trend for the digital delivery of all TVNZ product,” said Mr O’Brien.
This is a pilot programme, which in the future may lead to broadcasting of key Parliamentary debates and Select Committees.
