Penalise Your Customers And Perish Says FlyingPig.co.nz
FlyingPig.co.nz supports consumer dissatisfaction against Amazon.com's differential pricing practice.
The online bookstore is currently being taken to task by its customers for offering first-time visitors a better price.
Amazon.com is able to do this by reading information in the cookies contained on the computers of visitors to the site.
Mark Battle, CEO of FlyingPig.co.nz says his business does not partake in nor support variable price setting for
different customers.
"We don't believe in price penalising customers for repeat purchases.
"Like any other retailer, we do frequently provide incentives for all customers to shop at FlyingPig.co.nz.
"FlyingPig.co.nz certainly does not condone using cookie-enabled software to determine price setting. Internet laws are
still being developed but I would not be surprised if this practice would fall outside the consumer protection laws such
as New Zealand's Fair Trading Act."
Mr Battles said the value proposition of FlyingPig.co.nz to customers was based on strong business disciplines including
keen pricing. It would never consider activity that would compromise that value or consumer trust.

A cookie is a small piece of information written to the hard drive of Internet users when they visit a website. Cookies
can contain a variety of information, including the name of the website that issued them, where on the site the user
visited, passwords, and even user names and credit card numbers that have been supplied via forms.
If you want to get rid of your cookies simply:
Before you go onto any site, switch off all cookies. This is done on Explorer by going to Internet Options, Security.
Then either set it high or click Custom Level and click Disable on the cookies section. On Navigator, go to Edit,
Preferences, Advanced (down the bottom in the panel), Disable (cookies). In the Security panel, selecting Clear History
will also remove any tie-in with the site selected.
* Delete any previously selected sites' cookies in your Temporary Internet Files folder. Easiest way of doing this
is to go to the Start menu, select Find and then search for any files with that websites name. Any with the notepad
symbol are likely to be cookies. Delete them.
