American Gas & Power Giant Signs With Peace Software Retail Arm Of America’s Dominion Chooses Peace’s Energy For Energy Customer

Auckland, 30 August 2000 - Peace Software today announced that Dominion Retail, a subsidiary of America’s largest
integrated gas and electric power company, Dominion, has chosen Peace’s Energy™ software for energy customer management
(ECM) to help drive an ambitious expansion programme.
Based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dominion Retail provides natural gas and electricity to residential and small
commercial customers in the Mid-Atlantic region where it plans to extend its market stronghold over the next few years.
Peace’s Energy software was first developed for energy suppliers in New Zealand – the world’s first energy market to
deregulate – and Australia.
To achieve strong customer growth Tom Dodd, vice president of operations at Dominion Retail, said the American company
required a superior e-commerce energy customer management (ECM) solution capable of rapid, scalable market entry.
“Peace’s vision and depth of experience appealed to us in selecting a product purpose-built for the deregulated energy
industry sector,” he said.
Rapid deployment of the Energy system is planned, with an initial Go Live targeted for December.
After completing an extensive review of software products in the marketplace, Mr Dodd said that Dominion Retail judged
Energy to be the best value in terms of cost, technology and functionality.
Dominion Retail valued Energy’s native web support and browser user interface (BUI), which is an advanced graphical user
interface that exploits the latest capabilities of browser technology.
The fact that Energy is customer centric, not meter centric like traditional information systems, was a further benefit,
he said.
