LPG- A REAL INVESTMENT IN NEW ZEALAND'S FUTURE
Recent increases in petrol and diesel prices have brought Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to the forefront of motorists'
minds as an alternative way of fueling their cars. LPG is a locally produced "green" fuel that can be used to run cars
and larger vehicles.
Shell New Zealand LPG Manager, Mario Vulinovich, says that part of the appeal of an LPG conversion (apart from the
obvious financial advantages) is that motorists can be assured that they are contributing to a cleaner New Zealand
environment. He says that in the past few months his phone has been running red-hot with inquiries about LPG
conversions.
"It's an exciting opportunity for high mileage users like taxi operators and other commercial drivers. We are
experiencing a significant increase in conversions from businesses that are taking advantage of the savings which, in
turn, directly affects their bottom line.
"It is relatively inexpensive to convert you car to LPG. The average conversion cost for a late-model car would be
between $2500 - $3000," said Mario.
Shell LPG believes its product GoGas is a strong contender in the quest for an economical and environmentally friendly
alternative fuel.
"We are investing heavily in expanding our network of LPG sites with retro- fitting of Shell Service Stations up and
down the country.
"Converting to locally-produced LPG is an excellent opportunity for motorists to have a positive effect on the New
Zealand balance of payments, contribute to a cleaner environment and most importantly, save money," said Mario.
