“Towards bringing your Internet and Mobile worlds together”
Telecom customers can now receive their favourite share price, lotto results and updates about the weather and traffic,
through their digital mobile phones.
Telecom New Zealand today launched a website for mobile phone customers, enabling most customers with digital mobiles to
select regular updates from an array of useful information.
“This new Internet site is a major step in the convergence of mobile and Internet. It means that mobile customers can
visit the site and select services they would like to receive on their mobile,” Mohan Jesudason, Telecom’s General
Manager, Mobile said today.
“Telecom has delivered some great services such as AirNote and AirInfo over the past year – where we have learned a lot
about what customers like, and how they want information delivered.
“We are now building on this experience to launch this new Internet website called AirInfo.
“New services will be progressively added to the site. At launch most digital mobile customers on monthly plans can have
their own AirNote address for short e-mails. We’ll also offer phone package upgrades to Telecom’s digital network to
ensure customers have a compatible phone to take advantage of these services and an Xtra offer including 100 free hours
of Internet time.”
AirInfo services are free until August 31. Initial offers - local weather, traffic, lotto results, and financial
information, such as stock market indices and New Zealand stocks – will be supplemented later to include sport and
entertainment information.
The site will also provide information on other popular Telecom mobile services such as text messaging.
