SHELL ANNOUNCES TWO CENT DROP IN PETROL PRICES
Shell has dropped prices for both grades of petrol by two cents.
Shell Oceania Corporate Communications Manager, Antonius Papaspiropoulos, says the move has been prompted by an easing
in prices for imported finished fuel over the past few days.
"Shell is doing what it promised and passing on early savings to customers. We have been concerned that world markets
have recently pushed prices beyond one dollar a litre, and are keen to get them down below that dollar range as soon as
possible."
Mr Papaspiropoulos says that while prices for imported Dubai crude oil remain high, Shell is hopeful that a meeting of
the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Companies (OPEC) at the end of this month will see a release of crude oil
product onto world markets.
"Hopefully we will be able to pass on further savings to motorists when OPEC relaxes its quotas."
The price reduction is effective immediately, and diesel prices remain unchanged.
