Biggest Tourism Business Event Ever Just Four Days Away
In just four days, New Zealand's biggest ever tourism business event, Tourism Rendezvous New Zealand (TRENZ), will begin
in Christchurch, Tourism Industry Association Chief Executive Glenys Coughlan said today.
"TRENZ is the tourism business doing the business of tourism. Nearly 400 travel and tourism buyers from all over the
world will meet at the WestPac Centre in Christchurch to do business with over 350 New Zealand tourism operators, who
will be offering their product for sale.
"It is the biggest event of its type in New Zealand. The chances are that the tourists we see in our country in 2001
will have purchased a package negotiated at TRENZ this year," Ms Coughlan said.
"Also attending TRENZ will be over 80 international and 30 domestic media. As well as the opportunity to do business at
TRENZ, delegates will be hosted to a variety of functions which will have on display the best of New Zealand food and
wine.
"We are honoured this year to have the Prime Minister Helen Clark to officially open TRENZ on Monday evening. As well,
Tourism Minister Mark Burton will be attending TRENZ."
Ms Coughlan said that the finalists of the Tourism Awards 2000 will be announced at a delegates lunch at the
Christchurch Convention Centre on Monday 22nd.
