Vodafone New Zealand has taken up residence in Manukau City with the official opening of its call centre today.
The building, which has been uniquely designed to meet Vodafone's needs, accommodates up to 130 staff and an additional
switch.
"Our current customer numbers mean that we have had to expand our call centre team. Therefore, we needed to find a more
suitable location for these employees," said Mr John Rohan, Managing Director, Vodafone New Zealand Ltd.
Vodafone now has two call centres, with the other is based in central Auckland. Overall, Vodafone's call centre staff
handle more than 200,000 calls per month.
The Manukau call centre is the result of a "design and build" agreement between Vodafone and AMP Asset Management. The
partnership means that while AMP owns the building, worth eight million dollars, it has worked with Vodafone throughout
the project to ensure the building meets both the technical and personnel requirements of the mobile telecommunications
company.
"By joining forces with AMP we end up with a building specifically designed and built to meet our needs," said Mr Rohan.
"Furthermore, our decision to locate some of our staff and operations in Manukau has many advantages. Manukau is a
vibrant, progressive city and also home to many of the staff who will be working at this facility. We're looking forward
to being part of this community," said Mr Rohan.
