ALTERNATIVE SITE PROPOSAL FOR CELL PHONE TOWER
Christchurch City Council is able to consider an application from Telecom for the use of a Council reserve for the location of a cellphone tower in substitution for the Alpha Avenue/Normans Rd/Wairakei Rd site.
This application will involve consideration of public notification issues.
By way of background the application would be for an easement under s. 48 of the Reserves Act to locate the tower and accompanying building (if any) in a local park.
This is the same section of the Reserves Act that Telecom applied under for a tower in Rotorua.
