ZFREE Connects More Than 11,000 To Free Internet In First Two Days
Just 48 hours after its official launch, ZFREE has signed up more than 11,000 Internet users.
The free Internet access service, which is powered by CLEAR, has been a huge success so far, says ZFREE spokesman Ian
Scherger.
Advertisers are rushing to get their Internet ads on the ZFREE web site at www.zfree.co.nz. In the first 24 hours, 15
advertisers booked ad space.
Mr Scherger says the popularity of the site among advertisers at this early stage is encouraging. ZFREE expects most of
its revenues to come from advertising, sponsorship and ecommerce, as well as standard interconnect earnings.
ZFREE's no-frills service is pitched at home users who want simple, easy access to the Internet. Users must sign up
online. ZFREE is available in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch, Palmerston North, Whangarei, Rotorua,
Tauranga, New Plymouth, Napier/Hastings, Masterton and Dunedin - and ZFREE has plans to expand to other regions as soon
as practical.
ZFREE users call a CLEAR local number for dial-up access, so they may be subject to Telecom's "0867" Internet tax of two
cents per minute after the first 10 hours online each month.
