BP DROPS FUEL PRICES
A FURTHER 2 CENTS
BP today dropped the price of petrol and diesel by two cents a litre as world oil markets continue to ease - the second
decrease in less than a week.
The lower prices, which take effect immediately, drop petrol at most BP company-owned service stations in the main
cities to 95.9 cents a litre for Unleaded 91, $1.009 for Premium Unleaded and 62.5 cents for diesel.
This latest round of price drops is due to OPEC’s (Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries) recent decision to
produce more oil. In the past fortnight the crude and product markets (the market for ready-made petrol and diesel) have
dropped the equivalent of around six cents per litre.
BP Managing Director Peter Griffiths said today’s decrease (the fifth in less than three weeks) is further evidence that
BP is playing fair by its customers.
It is too soon to tell how much further the crude and product markets would drop, he said.
