EVENTURES BUILDS STRENGTH WITH MARKETING APPOINTMENTS
Internet accelerator company eVentures is continuing to build its strength as a significant force in New Zealand's
e-commerce sector with the appointment of two highly skilled and experienced marketing specialists to the positions of
Chief Marketing Officer and Launch Director.
Annemarie Browne, formerly Head of Communications at TV3 Network Services, has been appointed as eVentures' Chief
Marketing Officer and Su Cammell, a key player in the successful launch of TV3 Ireland, as eVentures' Launch Director.
eVentures Chief Executive, Cindy Mitchener, said she was delighted with the appointments which represented the
first-class calibre that eVentures was seeking in its staff. Ms Browne's and Ms Cammell's expertise would be integral to
the success of eVentures, she said.
"Annemarie's and Su's combined knowledge of the dynamics of launching new businesses, brand management and the
development of successful sales strategies will provide eVentures and its business partners with a formidable depth of
resource."
eVentures will provide a full range of services to increase the speed to market of new e-commerce companies and infuse
them with development strategies, capabilities, infrastructure and financial support. This will include supplying new
e-commerce companies with advertising, marketing and public relations assistance; market and competition analysis, and
entry strategies; and launch management and business rollout.
eVentures's first internet business, E-LOAN Inc, will be launched in the next few months. Launched in the United States
in 1997, E-LOAN is an online lending service that provides a wide range of personal and commercial financing options. In
New Zealand, E-LOAN will initially provide home loans.
"Both Annemarie and Su will have a critical role in establishing E-LOAN as a respected brand in New Zealand, providing
consumers with impartial advice on home loan options," says Ms Mitchener.
At TV3 Ms Browne managed all of TV3 and TV4's marketing activities, including channel promotion production, publicity,
marketing and sales. This included a joint marketing brand campaign with the government to promote New Zealand into the
new millennium.
Ms Cammell's 15 years' experience in national and international sales and marketing include being on the Canwest Global
management team which successfully established, launched and managed Ireland's first independent privately-owned
television network, TV3 Ireland.
In addition to her work with TV3 Ireland, Ms Cammell has held other sales and administration positions in the television
industry in New Zealand.
The appointments of Ms Browne and Ms Cammell follow the appointments last week of Tim Mews as Chief Technical officer
and Craig Manning as Chief Financial Officer. Both Mr Mews and Mr Manning will have a key role in determining which
businesses eVentures will launch in New Zealand and in considering factors such as the degree of customisation of
products and services these businesses require.
In addition to launching top international e-commerce brands into New Zealand, eVentures will provide investment
capital, strategic resources and management services to establish leading international internet, e-commerce and new
media businesses in New Zealand.
The New Zealand arm of eVentures was launched in October 1999 by Executive Chairman, Craig Heatley. Mr Heatley pioneered
pay television in New Zealand through Sky Television. He has a 20% shareholding in eVentures.
eVentures is backed by blue-chip international shareholders with a global track record of success. The company is a
joint venture between Mr Heatley, SOFTBANK Corporation, the world's leading internet investor founded in 1981 by new
media entrepreneur Masayoshi Son, and epartners, an investment vehicle and subsidiary of News Corporation. epartners is
headed by Mark Booth, formerly Chief Executive of the world's largest pay television operator British Sky Broadcasting
Group.
