Auckland, New Zealand - March 27, 2000 - Peace Software today announced its new version of the Peace Energy System, Version 5.3. Version 5.3 contains new usability features tested and certified by third party firm Human Factors, as well as BEA’s WebLogic server, which promotes an open, scalable architecture. The new release provides full production support for Oracle Version 8i.
Peace’s object-oriented architecture is enabled by BEA WebLogic, which allows users to develop and integrate objects, reuse them in new systems and deploy across a broad range of hardware, operating systems and database platforms.
New features in Energy Version 5.3 include:
 New object-oriented design for browser-based user interface using Sun’s Enterprise Java Beans and CORBA, providing increased performance and scalability
 Streamlined applications, resulting in efficiency gains in object creation and improved online response times for customer service representatives (CSRs)
 New interfaces for bill print, IVR/CTI call handling, customer payments and service delivery points
 XML support for retail market interface and business-to-business integration
 Improved online help facilities to reduce the amount of time required for product training
 Full BUI transaction processing screens, including online billing and reversals
 New retail e-commerce functionality using Java Server Pages (JSP), providing increased competitive advantage in the retail market
“A key differentiator of the Peace solution is its unique browser-user interface (BUI), which allows customers and energy customer service representatives to interact with the software in an intuitive and natural way,” said Brian Peace, chief executive and founder, Peace Software. “BUI is considered state-of-the-art in software design, and the Peace Energy solution is the only proven enterprise application available to offer this feature. Now Peace has expanded its BUI functionality, allowing even greater customer service representative ease of use.”
As competition increases through deregulation of the industry throughout North America, energy companies are turning to the Internet to service customers more effectively. Peace has recognized this for years and continues to improve its products and services to enable energy retailers to offer superior customer service and improve profits.
