New petrol cleans your car’s engine as you drive
New Zealand motorists can now fill up with an advanced new petrol that cleans your car engine as you drive.
Called Vortex, the new petrol has been launched by Caltex today. It contains an exclusive additive that not only keeps engines in new cars clean, but also washes away the harmful deposits that have built up over time.
“Many New Zealand motorists are unaware of the performance-reducing effects of fuel deposits or are oblivious to the fact they even exist,” says Tracey Brown, Caltex’ manager of its brand marketing group.
“But research has shown that up to 95 per cent of cars in New Zealand have some level of fuel deposits.”
Fuel-related deposits occur most commonly in the tiny fuel passages in carburettors, fuel injection systems, valves and intake passageways. A build up of deposits contributes to loss of power, reduced fuel economy and increased exhaust emissions.
Ms Brown says the breakthrough additive Vortex not only prevents deposits forming but also cleans up old deposits.
“The result of cleaning up fuel deposits is a car engine that runs more powerfully, uses less fuel and has cleaner exhaust emissions,” Ms Brown says.
Vortex costs no more than standard petrol. By entering into an exclusive world-wide supply agreement with a leading manufacturer of fuel additives, Caltex has been able to obtain the Vortex additive at a competitive price that means it can be offered at no extra cost to the consumer.
The Vortex formulation was specially developed for Caltex and is exclusive to the company.
It is based on the most advanced chemistry available to the petrol industry. Independent laboratory tests have shown it is capable of cleaning up the fouled injectors on a fuel-injected car engine in just one tankful.
Caltex Vortex is safe to use in all types of petrol engines, including two-stroke motorcycles, inboard and outboard marine engines and portable power equipment such as chainsaws and motor mowers. It is also compatible with all types of engine oils, the company says.
“The problem of fuel deposits has become more critical with the introduction of modern, high-technology fuel-injected engines which depend upon very precise settings to perform at an optimum level,” Ms Brown says.
“People who own brand new cars and those with older cars can benefit from using Vortex. In older cars it cleans up deposits then keeps the engine clean and in new cars it keeps the engine performing at its best — and the great thing is it doesn’t cost any more at all.”
Caltex Vortex is being launched in New Zealand today (Monday, March 27) as part of a global branding exercise. It is available at all Caltex stations nationwide, and in both regular and premium grades.
