KPMG Consulting and Microsoft launch
new “Dot.com” practice
Business advisory firm KPMG Consulting, in alliance with Microsoft, has launched a new programme to bring companies to
the Internet. The new service will make it faster and easier for businesses to launch and run dot.com companies.
The dedicated practice, called KPMG Consulting Microsoft Dot.com, streamlines development, integration and deployment
for dot.com business solutions, based on the Windows 2000 platform.
“We need adaptable, reliable and scalable solutions for our clients. They also need to be very fast to market – at
internet speed,” said Phil Royal, KPMG Consulting New Zealand’s head of solutions.
“We can be highly flexible in our approach and help clients respond rapidly to market conditions by having a dedicated
practice. The initiative will reduce start-up costs, which is a significant factor in the small New Zealand business
environment. We offer pre-configured and re-usuable solutions that can be easily adapted. Clients have the assurance of
our combined technical expertise and brand reputations.
“This is one of a number of alliances and acquistions enabling KPMG Consulting to offer fully integrated internet
services. We recently bought web-developers The Web Limited and have announced alliances with Cisco Systems and internet
integrators Clearview Zivo. We are looking at several other initiatives to further our ability to provide end-to-end
solutions,” Mr Royal said.
The new practice offers strategy, branding, creative design, Web technology integration, marketing and dot.com hosting
services, delivered globally and locally. It will streamline the development and implementation of a start-up dot.com to
as few as three months.
Microsoft New Zealand’s Corporate Sales Manager Chris Thodey said that New Zealand businesses will be the real winners
from this programme; and that KPMG Consulting's Microsoft Dot.com practice will help corporates take better advantage of
the Windows 2000 platform and the Microsoft Business Internet initiative.
“Microsoft New Zealand’s strong working relationship with KPMG Consulting will help make the internet a practical global
business channel for companies here,” said Thodey. “KPMG Consulting's proven business and technology knowledge built on
top of the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform means faster time to market, more accurate delivery of dot.com businesses and
the flexibility and reliability to grow quickly in response to customer needs.”
KPMG Consulting in New Zealand is recruiting additional professional staff for the practice.
In California, KPMG Microsoft Dot.com is establishing an interactive lab to develop, test and showcase dot.com solutions
directly with clients. The US practice is hiring an additional 500 professional staff.
Founded in 1975, Microsoft (Nasdaq "MSFT") is the worldwide leader in software for personal and business computing. The
company offers a wide range of products and services designed to empower people through great software - any time, any
place and on any device.
KPMG Consulting is a leading internet integrator. It has completed major e-business assignments in New Zealand in
energy, financial services and public sector over the past year.
