Piha Gets Warning Signs

Three warning signs spelling out the dangers of swimming and fishing at Piha have been erected.
The warnings follow three drownings at the beach over Labour weekend.
Two South African immigrant fathers were caught in rips after trying to save their teenage daughters.
A helicopter landing area is also being upgraded so rescuers can get to the surf's edge faster.
Waitakere City Council and other interested groups will be staging an information and advertisement campaign highlighting the need for caution when swimming or fishing at Piha and other West Coast beaches.
