Heritage buildings take on new look - The Civic goes public...
Auckland City, in association with The Edge, is planning two public open days for the refurbished Civic theatre project in December to allow people to experience the magic of the beautifully restored theatre.
The open days are Sunday 19 December from noon to 6pm and on Monday 20 December from 10am to 5pm.
There will be a family emphasis on Sunday, December 19, with a variety of entertainment running throughout the day.
As Monday December 20 is the 70th anniversary of the official opening of the theatre in 1929, the 'open day' will concentrate more on heritage aspects of the theatre. The Edge will hold tours of The Civic on both days.
These two open days are certain to be popular and they will provide an ideal opportunity for people to see one of Auckland's favourite landmarks come to life again. Admission is free.
For more information on this free community event call Sally Markham at The Edge on 307 5075, ext 5098 or Keith Leggett, Events Manager at Auckland City on 379 2020.
